Key takeaways
- Read the event in the app before you reconnect anything.
- Remove the load or charger, wait, then reconnect — do not force it.
- A 0V pack needs a compatible charger; never jump-start it.
- Repeated trips under the same load mean the bank or wiring is undersized.
1. The five protections
| Protection | Typical cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Over-voltage | Charger profile too high, or a cell out of balance | Stop charging; check charger voltage; let it rest |
| Under-voltage | Load left on, or battery run too low | Remove load; recharge with a LiFePO4 charger |
| Over-current | Inverter surge or a short | Remove load; check cables and inverter size |
| Short circuit | Wiring fault or reversed polarity | Stop; inspect wiring before reconnecting |
| Temperature | Charging below 0°C or over-temperature | Let it return to a safe temperature |
2. Recovery steps
- Switch off the load and the charger. Do not repeatedly reconnect to “test” it.
- Read the protection event in the app: voltage, current and temperature at the time.
- Wait one or two minutes for the BMS to reset.
- Reconnect a compatible charger for an under-voltage event; reconnect the load only after the voltage recovers.
- If the pack stays at 0V, or the same event repeats immediately, stop and contact support.
Do not jump-start, short the terminals or open the case. Those can bypass the protection that just saved the cells.
3. Why it keeps happening
If the BMS trips every time you run the inverter, the load is probably above the pack’s continuous rating or the cable is too thin. Check the inverter’s surge and the battery’s continuous current before blaming the BMS.
4. What the app can tell you
The app shows state of charge, pack voltage, current, cell voltages, cell spread, temperature and a timeline of protection events. Save or screenshot the event before you change the wiring — it is the best evidence for support.
Common questions
The battery shows 0V. Is it dead?
Not necessarily. The BMS may have disconnected on under-voltage. Remove all loads and try a compatible LiFePO4 charger; if it still will not wake, contact support. Do not jump-start it.
Why does it shut off only when the inverter starts?
That is usually over-current or a voltage dip during the surge. Check the inverter’s peak rating, the battery’s continuous current and the cable size; a thin or long cable makes the dip worse.
